Michael Kushner, MD, MPH, CPC, FAAFP

Dr. Michael Kushner earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Arizona. After completing his family medicine residency at West Suburban Medical Center in 2013, he left Illinois and returned to his deep Arizona roots to begin his practice. Dr. Kushner joined El Rio Health, a federally-qualified health center in Tucson, caring for underserved patients in both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. He quickly ascended to the role of Chair of the Department of Medicine at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital. He later became El Rio Health’s Director of the Adult Hospitalist Program as well as Director of Documentation and Coding Compliance in 2017.
Dr. Kushner now serves as the Chief Medical Officer for P3 Health Partners Arizona, bringing his vast experience with the Tucson community and passion for prevention-focused, quality healthcare. He is committed to enhancing prevention and wellness, provider accessibility, pro-active chronic disease management, and smooth care transitions. He uses his background in risk adjustment, auditing, and proper medical documentation and coding to ensure medical record integrity. Dr. Kushner is also a certified professional coder, a certified professional medical auditor, and a certified documentation expert outpatient. In addition, he has been a speaker for the American Academy of Professional Coders at both the local and national levels.
When Dr. Kushner isn’t at the office, you can find him cooking in the kitchen or reading bedtime stories to his son. Dr. Kushner enjoys playing racquetball and reading about personal development.
