David Kahan, MD, MMM, CPC

As Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr. David Kahan, brings more than 25 years’ experience in medicine and 15 years of experience in medical leadership to the P3 Health Partners team. Dr. Kahan believes in treating the whole patient by identifying all their medical conditions and managing those conditions by being proactive through preventive health and empowering patients.
His experience includes medical director roles for Summit Medical Group, P5 Health Plan Solutions, and HealthCare Partners Nevada (HCPNV). While at HCPNV, he used his expertise in Medicare Risk Adjustment to ensure the funding for patients matched their unique needs. Dr. Kahan developed the company’s policies and programs as well as educated care teams including the physicians, coders and office staff on how to capture and utilize needed data from the patient.
Prior to entering medical management, Dr. Kahan practiced internal medicine in California and Nevada and helped start the first hospitalist program in Las Vegas for Summit Medical Group.
Dr. Kahan earned his medical degree from The University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School and his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, California. A certified professional coder since 2010, he unites clinicians and coders to improve clinician documentation.
Dr. Kahan is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Association for Physician Leadership. He also recently served as a member of Humana’s regional Quality and Peer Review Committee.
